To be totally honest.
To all the players of Guild Wars, why are you complaining? You're still playing this game - so you obviously enjoy it. Unless you're a masochist, you're having fun.
Too many people crying about constant skill changes, which are necessary. The game is fairly easy, although it would be nice if my W/E Frenzy+wards for defense build was a little better in PvE.
You're not paying a monthly fee for a pretty decent game.
So, y'know - chill out. Also Linsey is pretty cool for... still working on the GW team (which is probably composed of group of people enough to count on one hand) And Regina for bitching about us on her blog. Good read that.
LOL STUPID POST
tl;dr version, stop crying. inb4 lock.

I paid money for this game after being promised a "free" online roleplaying game. Most industry standards for roleplaying games agree that there is a requirement for the provision of new and updated content with time, regardless of the company's decision to charge money on a monthly basis or not.
I refuse to behave as though Anet is doing me a great favour by allowing me to play their game after having purchased legitimately, copies of their game.
In summation, if you don't have a problem, good for you. Move over for the ones who do.

You paid for a game, you have your game. It says free online play with no fees AKA free servers. Pretty sure it doesn't say "SUP FREE CONTENT."

Negativity is cool. You'll never see cool kids be enthusiastic about anything.
As to why they apparently think ridiculous melodrama is cool I don't know, though.

There are no industry standards for RPGs. There aren't even standards for what defines an RPG.

Right, I'm totally trolling when I'm telling people like you to calm down and play your videogame. Most "industry standards" for online RPGs = online fee.
Game was fun, it's meant to be fun. So many people cry because the game wasn't what it used to be, that's because after a few years things tend to get old. Find something else and move on or shut up.

At the risk of incurring a ban because I disagree with a mod, I'd like to point out that I said "online roleplaying game", and you will find that the consensus implies that dynamic and updated online content is part of what makes it "online".

I'm not a player of Guild Wars, I'm a community revolutionary.
And I make complaints because 99% of the playerbase has too little understanding of the development of the game to do it.

What makes a game "online" is that you connect to a server through the Internet, requiring you to be online. Saying "other RPGs have this, so GW should have it" isn't a good argument, as GW isn't supposed to be like the other RPGs.

Everyone always mentions this "New Content" that is in "other" online RPGs. I have played a few online RPGs and I can only think of one addition (other than bug fix/balance fix) in one game that was free.
Anarchy online added an entire new zone. I have also played Dark age of camelot for 2 years and they never added any real content outside of expansions (expansions you payed more for). I played WOW for a year and never saw any new content there either.
So if you are going to claim that other online RPGs provide free updates, please provide some examples.
